WELLNESS CHART

It's a great idea to create a wellness chart for your sugar glider or sugar gliders. This will also help you to keep up with your gliders health. What you do is, you make a list of things that you look at on a sugar glider and rate them or make comments on them. Here is an example of a wellness chart that you can use for your sugar glider. You can create your own if you want to or maybe add to the chart if you feel the need to do so.

SUGAR GLIDER WELLNESS CHARTING

Hydration Check: check for tenting and report if dehydrated.
Eyes: check each week to make sure they are bright and that they are responsive. You must report any discoloration, cloudyness or if they are sunk in.
Ears: check each week for wax or lesions. The ears should be clean and when ears are pushed down they should spring back into place.
Nose and Membranes: should be moist and pink. Report any redness or any kind of irritations.
Coat: should be smooth and shiny with not discolortion or baldness. Only baldness that would be present is in the males scent gland areas. Report any baldness or discoloration.
Stool: should be checked weekly to make sure it is well formed and not runny. Check to see if it is sticky or discolored. Make sure that there is no blood present. If you seen any of these signs they must be reported

Heart rate: keep track of your gliders heart rate and report any changes that may occur.

Temperature: keep track of your gliders temperature. If there is any drop in the temp or any raise in it, report it.

Weight: the weight should be watched to make sure that your glider doesn't become over weight or under weight. If your glider is under weight then add more food to your glider's bowl. If your glider has a lack of appetite then report that and take your glider to the vet. If you glider is over weight then you need to adjust the diet and make sure that you are using the right diet. Don't give too many fating treats for this could cause health problems.

It would be a good idea to have this all written down on paper. You can create a chart on the computer to make it much easier for you. All you would have to do is print it out and take notes each week, or each month. It would be awsome if you can do this daily.

I have created my own wellness chart (9-29-04) This could give you an example on how to make your own chart.
